At last Sony are starting to make a definite play for the LED TV market via the Bravia range. I'm surprised they have been late adopters into this market! Maybe they felt they had to perfect their version of LED technology, but Sony rarely lag behind. Their latest range of Sony LED TVs with the Bravia brand now seem to be solving this little issue and in particular, the Sony EX700 LED TV range seems to be a real range of winners.

The Sony Bravia EX700 52-Inch LED TV allows you to enjoy Full 1080p High Definition. With incredible contrast and smooth high motion picture performance the Sony BRAVIA EX700-Series LED HDTV is an outstanding LED TV. And, this all comes at a great price!

The Sony EX700 Series LED TV allows complete internet connectivity either hardwired or wireless. So you access to the huge range of Internet offerings covering video, online TV programs/players, movies and music using applications. From You Tube to Slacker, Netflix to Amazon Video on Demand you get the lot with instant access.

So, I was delighted when a friend made a purchase and invited me round for a viewing session! John got his Sony Bravia EX700 52-Inch LED TV about 2 weeks ago and the first thing that hit me was the stunningly beautiful picture. The colors are rich and bright and the blacks display incredible depth and of course LED HD makes everything so crisp and clean.

So, we went into Pete's family room where he's set up his new Sony Bravia EX700 and I really liked his set up which helped to really bring out the best from the TV. He's got a Pioneer Elite SC-25 receiver, LG Blu-Ray, Boston Acoustics center and surround speakers.

This is a great set up for a large'ish family sized room and watching Avatar on this set up was an amazing experience. The action sequences were clear and crisp and the colors vibrant, it was outstanding. It really demonstrated what the Sony EX700 52 Inch LED TV is capable of.

After our viewing session Pete gave me some further insights into his new Sony Bravia LED HD TV.

Certainly Pete was "well pleased" with his purchase. He moved "up" to the Sony Bravia EX700 52 Inch LED TV from a Samsung 46 Inch LCD. Although delighted with the picture quality he did say he felt it was only slightly better than his LCD. This surprised me as in my opinion the difference was more marked and definitely in the Bravia's favor.

The colors just seem "warmer" to me and the picture is a little crisper despite the bigger 52 Inch screen. Images from the Blu-Ray are truly stunning, Avatar a is a great movie anyway, and the Blu-Ray full 1080 HD just added to the experience and I think that is partly down to the performance of the Sony Bravia EX700 52 Inch LED TV.

The jack pack on the Sony Bravia EX700 52 is outstanding, you even get a wireless dongle courtesy of Sony! However, Pete hardwired up to to his in-house LAN so we didn't test the wireless capability, I've no doubt it will be good though. He did say that getting hooked up to his LAN was pain free and pretty easy and that streaming from his PC via the network was effortless and he experienced no trouble in getting it sorted out. HD video streaming seemed fair, we had a quick look, although obviously inferior to a full 1080p HD source such as Blu-Ray or HD TV box.

Like most LED's the Sony Bravia EX700 is a fantastic looking TV set. The screen is surrounded by a really nice gloss black surround. It will probably be just as difficult as any TV to keep free of finger marks and dust, but it does look great all shiny and new!

As with all LED TVs the Sony also has the low energy consumption that does go some small way towards conserving energy and saving on bills too.

On the downside, the base of the set is not the best, but John has it mounted on his own media center so no issue, I guess I may have been swayed by his comments and the fact that it looked a bit strange detached? Also the channel change time is slow particularly if switching between different resolution feeds.

Overall the Sony Bravia EX700 52 Inch LED TV is a great bit of kit providing a superb viewing experience. I know Pete is delighted and highly recommends this new addition to the Sony stable..and he is very discerning when it comes to his HD TV!
